Socialising with Roland's Friends

The first thing I concerned about Germany is whether I am too much of a minority as there are not many Asians. I do feel people give me curious while polite glances every now and then, especially when they see Roland is with me too. Though there are many Turkish around, there are few other races and very few mixed couples. Roland's sister, Sabine, told him it would be better in the old west as Magdeburg is not as open as some western cities.

Roland's friends treated me well. They are all shy at first, but very nice. Some of them offered me climbing gear, some tried to talk to me with limited English. Roland's flatmates are extremely nice. Kathie and Christian offered us a double mattress and its beddings. Christian also invited us to his celebration party for finishing thesis.
